  6. How do you move around on the screen?
  7.  
  8.         Move from one command to the next with the mouse, the Tab
  9.         key, the arrow keys, or by typing the highlighted letter
  10.         of each command. Back out one command level by pressing
  11.         the ESCape key or F10.

  13. Is there any Help in the program?
  14.  
  15.         Yes, hold the Alt key down for a list of Hotkeys.  These
  16.         will get you to Notepad, Save, Quit, and TagList with one
  17.         key stroke. In Description, Hardware or Notepad you can
  18.         press the F1 key to display a list of editor commands for
  19.         manipulating text. Also, the message box on the bottom of
  20.         the screen has commands for the specific screen you are
  21.         on.

  23. Do the messages on the bottom of the screen have to display?

  25.         The message box is controlled by the Help Level selection
  26.         under MiscStuff.  You can turn it ON/OFF at will. When
  27.         the Help Level is turned off, the Date and Time will
  28.         display in the message box.

  30. How do I use File Finder?

  32.         File Finder allows you to bring text files into Notepad,
  33.         Description and Hardware.  In the File Finder window
  34.         enter *.* to display a list of files in the directory you
  35.         are logged on with. If you want a different directory,
  36.         have the highlighted bar on the '..' at the top of the
  37.         file list and press enter. This will move up one
  38.         directory level.  You can then select another directory
  39.         or select a file. If you know the directory string to a
  40.         text file, you can enter it is the File Finder window and
  41.         CatMan will go right to it.

  43. How do I print a listing.

  45.         To print a listing by file name follow these steps: from
  46.         Listings, select Export in the Export windows, select any
  47.         of the options, Program Name, File Name, Label Name, or
  48.         Search List enter the file name for the report
  49.  
  50.         CatMan displays all the file names as it writes them to
  51.         the text file. When completed, a message appears on
  52.         screen, press any key to clear the message.  You may now
  53.         send that file to your printer.  If you select the
  54.         SearchList option, you must have run a SearchList first
  55.         or an error message appears indicating the Search List is
  56.         empty.

  58. How do I enter a file without Bulk Load?

  60.         Under Files on the top menu bar, select New.  Press 'f'
  61.         to enter the File Name section, 'h' to enter the Hardware
  62.         section, and 'd' the Description. When completed, press
  63.         's' to Save the information. The only required items are
  64.         the file name and package name fields.

  66. What is the Package Name?

  68.         When you walk into a store and ask the clerk for a
  69.         software package, you ask for Word, or Windows, or
  70.         CatMan-DO!. That is the Package Name.  It is used to
  71.         identify your files.  When using the Bulk Load options,
  72.         CatMan enters the file name for the package name. When
  73.         entering files individually, you can choose what to enter
  74.         for package name.

  76. How do I use Automatic Mode in Bulk Load?
  77.  
  78.         Choose a drive to read with Select Drive (A: or B:).
  79.         Place a diskette in the selected drive, select Automatic
  80.         mode, and enter the label name when requested. CatMan
  81.         loads the database with information for all the files on
  82.         the diskette.  Using Automatic Bulk Load, CatMan keeps
  83.         track of the last 10 label names entered.  You are asked
  84.         in you want to duplicate the label name.

  86. What is the fastest way to enter files?

  88.         Automatic Mode under Bulk Load is the quickest method to
  89.         enter files. For instructions, see the question on how to
  90.         use Automatic Bulk Load.

  92. How do I use Manual Mode in Bulk Load?
  93.  
  94.         There are four steps for Manual Mode, the same four items
  95.         on the Manual Mode menu. First, Grab All Files reads all
  96.         the files on the diskette in the selected drive.  Second,
  97.         Pick & Choose allows you to review the list of files
  98.         found on the diskette and mark which files you want in
  99.         the database (Yes/No) using the insert and delete keys.
  100.         Third, Edit Label Name allows you to enter the label you
  101.         want in the database for the selected files. The label
  102.         name can not be blank. Fourth, Load Database completes
  103.         the process.

  105. How do I change information once it is entered?
  106.  
  107.         Change information to a file under Files on the main
  108.         menu, Alter, Alterations. You can not change File Name
  109.         for items that have been bulk loaded. The Time Stamp is
  110.         not alterable for any entry.

  112. What is the difference between File Name, Package Name and Label?
  113.  
  114.         File Name is the name you see when you do a directory of
  115.         the diskette.  Package Name is the name you would use to
  116.         buy the software in the store. Label is what is on the
  117.         diskette label, either your own label or a pre-printed
  118.         label. Bulk Load Automatic Mode enters the file name in
  119.         the Package Name since it can not determine the software
  120.         name.
